Graduation Requirements for All BGS Students

Any student who fails to follow and complete the above requirements and procedures will not be allowed to graduate.

There are several requirements which must be completed by all BGS students prior to graduation. The student must:

• Complete all academic requirements for the degree including all general education requirements (English composition, literature, mathematics, natural sciences, computer literacy, humanities, arts, social sciences and oral competency), the interdisciplinary program of study (ILP), and appropriate prerequisite and elective course work. The student is responsible for understanding all components of the degree plan and completing all requirements.
  
• Determine, by conference with appropriate BGS staff, that his or her academic record is accurate and complete. This conference should be held no later than one semester prior to the expected date of commencement.
  
• All external credit must be completed and official transcripts received by the Office of Admissions prior to the beginning of the student’s final semester in residence. This includes all transfer and correspondence credit from any resource. It is recommended that students request an additional official transcript to be sent to the BGS office for inclusion in the student’s file.
  
• Submit an Application for Degree to the Registrar’s Office prior to the registration period of the last semester in residence. The student will be required to make this formal application and indicate the exact name to appear on the diploma.
  
• Pay the diploma fee during the final registration fee payment period. A student who has previously paid a diploma fee, but did not graduate during the expected semester, must notify the Registrar’s Office of the change in anticipated graduation date and pay an additional application handling fee.
  
• Have all financial indebtedness to the University cleared prior to graduation.
